Exterior Hand Rails & Porch Railings in Rome, GA

Porch, balcony, patio and ramp railings shape how a building looks from the street, and they keep people from falling. Fabco Fabrications designs, fabricates and installs custom exterior hand rails and porch railings for homes, storefronts, churches and public spaces in Rome, Floyd County and Northwest Georgia, from our shop.

What we build

  • Porch and veranda railings between columns.
  • Balcony and upper-deck railings, including curved railings that follow a round balcony.
  • Patio, retaining-wall and overlook railings along a drop-off.
  • Ramp handrails for accessible entrances.
  • Storefront and sidewalk café railings for downtown businesses.

Style and materials

Simple square pickets suit most porches. Decorative panels, scrollwork or geometric patterns can make a balcony a focal point. We work in steel, aluminum, cast iron, stainless steel, brass and bronze. Aluminum doesn’t rust. Steel is sturdier and heavier and needs its finish maintained. If you already have a gate, fence or stair railing, we can carry the same design across.

Safety and code

For homes, the International Residential Code used across most of Georgia generally requires a guard at least 36 inches high wherever a porch, deck or balcony is more than 30 inches above the ground, with openings that won’t pass a 4-inch sphere. Commercial buildings typically need 42-inch guards. Accessible ramps need handrails on both sides at 34–38 inches with extensions at each end. We design to the requirement that applies, and your inspector has the final word.

How it works

  1. On-site consultation and measuring.
  2. Design and material choice.
  3. Fabrication in our Cave Spring shop.
  4. Installation and anchoring into the deck, slab, masonry or columns.

One customer put it simply: “Fantastic handrail installation on our back porch along with two mailboxes over the years which are beautiful!” (Morgan B., Google review)
