Commercial work we do

  • Site furnishings: benches and memorial benches, bike racks, and custom racks and stands.
  • Railings and guards for entrances, ramps, stairs, balconies, patios and sidewalk cafés (see exterior hand rails).
  • Entrance gates and fencing for campuses, churches, subdivisions, cemeteries and businesses.
  • Signs and plaques: monument signs, blade signs, building letters and dedication plaques (see signs).
  • Public art, such as the Dancing Flower sculpture on Broad Street, credited to Fabco owner Jimmy Birdsong as fabricator (see art & sculpture).
  • Miscellaneous ironwork and industrial fabrication: brackets, frames, supports and one-off parts.
  • On-site and mobile welding for repairs and modifications at job sites, facilities and properties (see mobile welding).

Our customers have included churches and public spaces. One reviewer wrote that “Jimmy did several projects for our Beautiful memorial garden & church!” Another described the railing and gate Fabco built around the Myra H paddle boat at Ridge Ferry Park in Rome. Why work with Fabco on a commercial job

  • One shop from design to install, so there’s one point of contact for fabrication and installation.
  • Space for the job. Our offices, showroom and fabrication facilities total more than 16,000 square feet of combined space. That’s large enough to handle most commercial projects, yet small enough to give you personal attention.
  • Range of materials: steel, aluminum, stainless steel, cast iron, brass, bronze and wood.

Code and accessibility

Commercial railings and guards are generally governed by the International Building Code and ADA standards: 42-inch guards, handrails 34–38 inches high on both sides of stairs and ramps, extensions at top and bottom, and graspable profiles. Bike racks and benches in public areas also need to leave clear walking routes. We work from your architect’s or contractor’s drawings, or help develop the details, and your building official has the final word.

Working with contractors and owners

  1. Send drawings, specs or a description of the scope.
  2. We review them, ask questions and quote.
  3. Shop fabrication in Cave Spring.
  4. Delivery and installation coordinated with your schedule.
